Electronics Technician
Purpose of Position
JFC Group is seeking a skilled Electronics Technician with mechanical experience to support the development of our automated calf feeder systems. The role requires expertise in electrical and electronic systems, combined with mechanical problem-solving skills to assist in the further development of the Evolution Automatic calf feeder and other Agri-tech products within JFC Group. The ideal candidate will have experience working with sensor-based automation, pumps, heaters etc in agricultural, automotive or industrial settings. This is an ideal opportunity for the right candidate to work and grow within an experienced Electronics/Software/ Mechanical team.
Key duties and Responsibilities
- Diagnose electronic control systems in automated calf feeders.
- Assemble and test prototype electronic and mechanical components, including sensors, control units, and pumps.
- Test and document Software, Electronics and Mechanical components
- Read and interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical manuals.
- Assist in product development and testing, providing feedback on performance and durability in farm environments.
- Ensure compliance with electrical safety and industry standards.
- Participate in field trials on new Agri-tech products
- Setup and Run tests on Electromechanical components and document the results.
Desired Skills and Experience
- Diploma, certification, or degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
- Minimum 2+ years in electronic troubleshooting, repair, or maintenance, preferably in an agricultural or automotive or industrial automation setting.
- Good understanding of electronic circuits, diagnostic tools (multimeter, oscilloscope, etc.).
- Experience with pumps, heating elements, sensors, and actuators.
- Familiarity with DC and AC power systems, relays, and motor controls.
- Basic mechanical troubleshooting.
- Background in Mechanics, Domestic appliances or industrial machines a distinct advantage.
- Understanding of wiring diagrams.
- Use of standard PC software Word, Excel, Office 365.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills for diagnosing faults efficiently.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate with engineers and farmers.
- Good communication skills for explaining technical issues to non-technical users.
- Attention to detail and ability to follow technical procedures.
- Experience working with livestock automation or dairy farm technology an advantage.
- Knowledge of PLC programming.
- Background in fluid systems, pumps, and feed dispensing equipment.
- Hands on background, e.g. Welding or fabrication skills for occasional mechanical modifications.
- Full Driving licence an advantage.
- Background in car mechanics or similar field.
